British Cuisine Inspires New Italian Pasta Recipe – Brit-talian is Born

The British public has really taken Italian cooking to heart and many of us feel more at home cooking a typically Italian dish such as Spaghetti Bolognese than we do cooking a roast! With this in mind Giovanni Rana, Italy’s number one fresh pasta brand has developed a new recipe which features Britain favourite meat prepared the Italian way – Chicken and Rosemary tortelloni.
Last year Giovanni Rana undertook a nationwide search to find women who represent the epitome of an Italian Mama in the UK, and after scouring the country far and wide, the panel awarded Daniela Calastri, from Essex and Monica Costa from London the first two positions as “Giovanni Rana Mamas”. Both Mamas went to Verona and met with Signor Rana, and while they were there the topic of the British love of chicken came up, with both Mamas extolling the versatility of the meat as it goes so well with so many different flavours.
Giovanni Rana immediately got thinking, and was inspired to create a brand new variant specifically for the UK market. He took Britain’s favourite meat* and by combining it with a herb commonly used in Italian cuisine, rosemary, gave a uniquely British flavour to an Italian dish – Brit-talian, if you will.

Signor Rana began making fresh pasta in 1961 with the help of ten women in a small shop in San Giovanni Lupatoto, not far from Verona.
